Four objectives, one cycle

  1. Risk analysis

Conducting sound assessments of disaster risks and ensuring strong linkages with early warning systems.

  2. Preparedness planning

Establishing clear arrangements in advance to enable timely, effective, and appropriate responses to potential hazardous events or emerging disaster situations that may threaten society or the environment.

  3. Disaster response

Taking immediate actions before, during, or after a disaster to save lives, reduce health impacts, ensure public safety, and meet the basic subsistence needs of affected populations. This includes the provision of emergency services and assistance, with a focus on short-term relief.

  4. Recovery and resilience

Restoring and improving livelihoods, health, and economic, physical, social, cultural, and environmental assets of disaster-affected communities. Guided by sustainable development principles and the “build back better” approach, we aim to reduce future disaster risks and strengthen resilience.
